An elderely man burnt to death inside his shack in Everest informal settlement on Sunday evening.
Witnesses say the man was seen drinking earlier at the tavern and at around 8.30pm walked home and locked himself inside.

About 30 minutes later, neighbours saw a fire at the shack and heard the victim screaming for help.
The neighbours say they tried to stop the fire, but it was burning too hot.
The 71-year-old was trapped inside and was burnt beyond recognition.
The police say arson was not suspected.
