Storm leaves family in Toekoms with no hot water

Klein claims a lightning bolt struck the geyser, which sits on top of his house.

David Klein, who lives in a small apartment in Toekoms with his daughter and granddaughter, has been left without hot water for three weeks.

Toekoms is a municipal housing complex where mostly elderly people live.

Klein’s geyser was destroyed during a massive storm in Springs three weeks ago.

Klein claims a lightning bolt struck the geyser, which sits on top of his house.

He reported the incident to his caretaker, Coleen Naude, who reported the problem to the housing department on April 2, as well as on April 9.

He was promised a visit each time, but no one has shown up yet to help with the problem.

In order to bath, Klein has to boil five kettles of water every morning for him, his daughter and his granddaughter.

This is proving to be very costly to him.

“Winter is on its way and it’s very cold in the mornings. We can’t go on like this,’’ says Klein.

The Advertiser has sent a query to the metro about this issue.
