Karen Zoid to rock on the lawns with The Cure

Zoid is known to set any stage alight with her energetic guitar solos, emotionally charged lyrics and witty sense of humour.

South Africa’s “Queen of Rock”, Karen Zoid, has joined the line-up for the upcoming Rock on the Lawns featuring The Cure at Carnival City on March 16.

Zoid is known to set any stage alight with her energetic guitar solos, emotionally charged lyrics and witty sense of humour.

Her music has, without a doubt, shaped local culture and she has dominated the airwaves for over a decade.

She’s received numerous awards and has had more than 32 number one hit singles on iTunes. She’s performed with Annie Lennox, John Mayer and Metallica and, according to Time Magazine, she’s an icon in the South African music scene.

Michelle Smith, marketing manager at Carnival City, says it is a coup to host The Cure and some of South Africa’s top artists during Rock on the Lawns in March.

Rock on the Lawns, organised by AMP Events, will be the first-ever performance in South Africa by The Cure.

The Cure is famous for hits including Friday I’m In Love, Lullaby, Close to Me, Love Song, The Lovecats, Let’s Go To Bed and Just Like Heaven.

Their critically acclaimed album Disintegration is considered one of the most important albums in music history.

The Cure is playing at selected events around the world as part of a 40-year anniversary tour.

Other top local bands collaborating for Rock on the Lawns at Carnival City include Fokofpolisiekar, Zebra & Giraffe, Ard Matthews and band, Opposite The Other, Southern Wild, Hellcats, Diamond Thug and The Robfather (DJ).
