Enjoy a sokkie with Jonk in Afrikaans

“This is not going to be your average, everyday Afrikaans music show.”

Some of the best young Afrikaans musicians are headed to Carnival City this spring.

Get ready to shuffle those feet, sway those hips and enjoy a good old “sokkie” as Jonk in Afrikaans takes guests on a musical journey packed with great dance and pop hits.

Described as a “pop-sokkie extravaganza” by its makers, Jonk in Afrikaans features fresh new faces in the Afrikaans music industry.

“They are young and incredibly talented and bursting at the seams with new, original, modern dance and pop songs, and are getting together to do something great with that,” says Michelle Smith, Carnival City marketing manager.

“The idea started with two young entrepreneurs who religiously attend Afrikaans music concerts but identified a massive gap in the market for something fresh aimed at the younger generation.

“For this reason the event focusses very much on dance and “sokkie” music, allowing the audience the freedom to dance and participate in the extravaganza.

“We are excited about bringing this brand new offering to Carnival City for the very first time,” says Smith.

“This is not going to be your average, everyday Afrikaans music show.”

The show takes place on October 20.
