Springs Hip-Hop Awards to take place at Springs Theatre

Free tickets to be won for Springs Hip-Hop Awards.

The second annual Springs Hip-Hop Awards promise to be bigger and better than before.

The award show will take place on April 14 at the Springs Theatre.

The organisers are pleased with the growth and reception they have received from artists and hip-hop fans.

“Last year, 500 artists submitted their work.

“This year 1 500 artists have submitted their work to be considered for the awards,” says orgainser and founder of Springs Hip-Hop Awards Tshepo Moagi.

To be considered for the awards, artists need to be active, have their music readily available on a variety of platforms and be easy to find.

The awards are an opportunity for the artists to be rewarded for their hard work.

“Upcoming artists struggle to shine, and hip-hop being an ego driven industry, they eventually drop out,” says Moagi.

The awards take about seven months to plan and organisers promise this year’s show will be better than last year.

The Ekurhuleni Department of Arts and Culture has provided some sponsorship as well as several local companies.

Artists performing this year include DJ Sablo, Hullabaloos, Indigo Kid and Team No Fear.

The awards will also be broadcast on Soweto TV and there are 50 free tickets to be won.

The doors will open at 2pm and the dress code is formal or smart-casual.
