Dancers excel at SA dance championships

Local dancers bring back many medals from the recent SA dance championships.

Thirteen dancers from Nicole’s World of Dance competed in the Solo South African Championships held in Polokwane, Limpopo last week.

The seven-day competition saw the dancers bring home seven gold, 10 silver and seven bronze medals.

Dance teacher Nicole du Plessis competed as well and received a gold medal for the senior advanced energy dance session.

She also received two silver medals for the pro classic and senior advanced classic.

In the pro-Latin category she received a bronze medal.

“I am proud of every dancer and for what they have achieved,” says du Plessis.

The results are as follow:

Irisma Wentzel obtained a bronze medal for dance pro classic and Latin energy.

Laura Botha received a gold medal for rising star pro classic and a bronze medal for pro rising star Latin dance sessions.

The gold medals for youth star classic and youth star Latin was received by Marlize Viljoen.

Danielle Potgieter won the juvenile star Latin dance session and Niane Smith also received a gold medal for juvenile star Latin.

In the juvenile 10 years Latin dance session Tsidke Haasbroek won a bronze medal and received a silver for juvenile 10 years star energy.

Mieke Vorster received a gold medal for junior youth star energy and silver for junior youth star Latin.

The silver medal was awarded to Dominique Venter in the youth star Latin dance session and received a bronze medal for youth rising star energy.

Yana Snyman obtained a silver for the juvenile champion energy dance session while Sherisa van der Walt received a first for junior champion energy and a silver for junior rising star energy dance sessions.

She also received a bronze medal for the junior champion Latin dance session.

In the junior youth rising star Latin Mikayla Miladinovic received a bronze medal.

Keyanne Chapman obtained a gold medal for junior rising star energy dance session.

“The dancers practised hard prior to the championships and I am proud of each and every one who received medals.

“Even those who just received fourth, fifth and sixth places,” says Nicole.
