Blue Funk Entertainment to release first single “Funk”

Local group Blue Funk Entertainment is set to release their first ever single on September 21.

Born and bred in Springs trio, who co-founded Blue Funk Entertainment, have worked very hard during the past months to put together their debut album Blue Funk.

To kick-off their hard work, they will release their first single track Funk, by one of the group’s members Sabelo Nkosi, on September 21.

Blue Funk Entertainment members Musa Ndou and Melusi Mbhele produced and directed the song with Nkosi.

The track is dedicated to those suffering and recovering from depression.

“I wrote this song from my interactions both personally and professionally with those who struggle with depression because I know how it feels,” says Nkosi.

While going through a turmoil phase in his life, Nkosi was diagnosed with depression in 2016.

After two months of moving back home he became attached to his bed whilst overdosing on medication but then he wanted to make a comeback in his life.

“I reached out to Ndou and Mbhele seeking their help to work on the idea I had for the album,” says Nkosi.

The trio says the theme of the album, “dancing the pain away”, elaborates on how they saved themselves and also reaches out to people suffering from the disorder.

“It wasn’t only Nkosi who went through depression.

“Ndou and I also went through some difficult challenges in our lives,” says Mbhele.

“Although people thought we had our lives in order, we had reached a crossroad and our lives were much worse.”

“We used our struggles to make a positive outcome from what we went through,” says Mbhele.

The recording of Blue Funk started in November 2016 and the first track recorded was titled Broken.

The majority of the album was recorded late last year and two tracks were added this year, namely, Who’s fooling who? and These things take time.

The whole album consists of hip-hop and rap music.

The group is currently focusing on some of the recordings for the rest of the album whilst also working on lined-up projects that include producing other albums for Ndou and Mbhele.

The single, Funk, will be released to the public on September 21 and it will be available for download on Google Play and iTunes.
