Willing to bend the rules for her clients, Elizabeth Sloane remains one of the most sought-after lobbyists in Washington, D.C.

When she is asked, by her current employer, to help oppose a bill that imposes regulations on firearms, she instead joins a scrappy boutique firm that represents the backers of the law.

Her defiant stance and determination to win now make her the target of powerful new enemies who threaten her career and the people she cares about.

In a bid to get more stringent gun control laws passed, Miss Sloane will step on anyone, using their secrets and weaknesses against them at every term, to get the job done.

Or so it would seem.

When the gun manufacturers, and their team of well-paid goons, can’t convince her to step down, they organise for her to be called to appear in a congressional hearing.

Here she must answer questions about possible violations of the senate ethics rules during her work, both for her current company and the firm she left to take one of their biggest clients.

However, all her scheming comes to fruition just as the viewer thinks this protagonist is off to jail by herself.

This is a fast-paced caper with myriad twists and turns that leave the ending a mystery which is only revealed in the last few scenes of the film.

The is one of two films featuring Jessica Chastain to be released in recent weeks and like the Zookeeper’s Wife, Miss Sloane certainly does not disappoint.

If you haven’t seen it yet it’s time to invest in the quick-witted DVD, immediately.
