Heavyweights International Comedy at Carnival

South African, Nigerian and Ugandan comedians will unite for a once off, not-to-be-missed, outrageously funny comedy showcase on April 1.

The Heavyweights International Comedy Show will promote African Unity and is a bid to fight against xenophobia in South Africa.

This 2017 edition of Pride Weekend – organised by Thikho Events – will be on stage at Carnival City, starting at 8pm.

The diverse ensemble of local and international headliners includes AY – Ayo Makun (Nigeria), Kansiime Anne (UGANDA), Thenjiwe (SA), Trevor Gumbi (SA).

They will be supported by Tumi Stopnonsons (SA) and Nina Hastie (SA).

All established comedians in their own right, each brings their own unique brand of comedy to the event, with the promise of huge laughs for all.

In the driver’s seat as host for the evening is none other than the charming and equally hilarious, Toll Ass Mo.

Another massive draw card for the show, he is a Xhosa comedian straight out of Tembisa.

Like many comedians who have gone on to become household names in this country, Tall Ass Mo is a comedian from very humble beginnings.

His material mainly comprises of stories of his childhood as well his encapsulations and observations of the absurdities that come with living in modern day South Africa.

Tall Ass Mo has made a huge impact on the local comedy industry, holding his own amongst some of the country’s best in a growing list of performances and appearances.

“These are top comedians who have come through the ranks over the years.

“Expect a side-splitting, laugh-a-minute showcase of Africa and America’s quirky humour,” says Michelle Smith, marketing manager at Carnival City.
