Amy Mitchell is a married woman with two children who feels overworked and over committed.

She works as a sales rep for a “hip” coffee company, prepares healthful, hand packed lunches for her children, does much of their homework, goes to all of their extracurricular activities, and is active in her school’s PTA, run by the domineering Gwendolyn James and her cronies, Stacy and Vicky.

The fun starts after she catches her husband, Mike, cheating on her with a nude hooker, via the Internet, and kicks him out.

Then, after a particularly stressful day, Amy publicly quits the PTA in response to Gwendolyn’s overzealous bake sale plans.

At a nearby bar, Amy meets Carla, a laid back, sexually-active single mom, and Kiki, a stay-at-home mom of four who adores Amy’s dissent from Gwendolyn.

The trio embark on an all-night bender that inspires Amy to loosen up with her children, including taking her children for rides in Mike’s classic car, forcing her son, Dylan, to do his own homework and taking her overachieving and constantly stressed daughter, Jane, for a spa day.

Her final act of reckless abandon is going up against Gwendolyn in the election of PTA president, which she wins with an impassioned speech giving moms permission not to be perfect.

The movie has a great cast but the story line is probably only interesting to moms who feel taken advantage of.

For the rest of us, there really is too much whining and self pity.

Bad Moms isn’t the worst movie you could pick for a little mindless entertainment after a hard week at the office, but if you don’t have children and can’t relate I’d suggest you pick another movie.
