Start 2017 with a positive attitude

With the recent protests and floods all over South Africa, people might find it hard to stay positive.

The older generation might start to question what kind of world we live in.

But it is possible that something smaller upsets you.

Whether it is a relationship that didn’t work out, a friend who disappointed you or a matriculant who failed their final school year.

It could even be the recent rugby season where the Springboks lost most of their matches.

Well, no positivism can be derived from that.

All these minor incidents could make it difficult to see the good in any situation.

Maybe if we try to counteract the experience with positive mindsets and goals it can stop the hurting, the sadness, and the feelings of being hopeless.

By taking those negatives, no matter how hard or difficult it may be and turning them into positives will be a good idea for the new year.

Maybe the time has come to focus on yourself for a change.

Once you have figured out who you are and what your goals, dreams, and aspirations are for yourself, you can change the negative thoughts into positive ones.

Only YOU can control your future and your positive plans will surely shine some light in all of the darkness.

When you befriend someone who mopes around all the time, it is easy to succumb to it.

If someone is making you happy don’t allow somebody who doesn’t want to be happy to steal your joy.

If you are in a relationship where your partner is always unhappy, don’t let their unhappiness ruin your life, stay happy.

Joyce Meyer once said make a decision to be happy, otherwise you will never be consistently happy.

By no means am I saying tomorrow you’ll be okay after going through a traumatic experience – but by staying happy and positive it will happen sooner than you think.

Being sad about your problems is not going to let them go away.

Positivity develops over time, it’s when you stand up and say enough is enough.

Instead of constantly reflecting, change something, make a difference.

Give more than you expect from someone.

The best way to start is to surround yourself with the people who love you most, even during difficult times.

Positive people will pick you up, support you, and love you unconditionally.
