Is Mark man enough?
While this is the fourth diary in the Bridget Jones series, it slots in between the second and third with Bridget finding herself "in the family way" with no idea which of her two on-again-of-again beaus is the father.

Having slept with both Mark Darcy and Daniel Clever within days of one another, and through the failure of expired dolphin-friendly condoms, Bridget is left in the sorry predicament of weathering a pregnancy filled with judgement, uncertainty and rather large breasts – all themes we’ve seen in the previous diaries.
Pam, Bridget’s long-suffering mum, is about to take tea with the Queen and hopes her neighbours will vote for her to be seated next to Her Majesty when she visits their historical village.
However, with Bridget up the duff, she really wishes Bridget had gone about having a baby in the “normal” way, marriage before baby, as the rest of the village is all too eager to rub her nose in her daughter’s foibles.
There is, of course, the ever-present rivalry between the old varsity mates turned foes, but the banter between Mark and Daniel is getting a little tired and the banter between the two really adds nothing to this latest diary.
If you’re a true Bridget Jones fan, the diaries will once again captivate, but more lukewarm admirers be warned: if you’re waiting for the film, the latest instalment strays quite far from the book with, spoiler alert, Daniel presumed dead and another yummy baby daddy, Jack, introduced to Bridget’s romantic liaisons.
