Tips to survive flash flooding

Paramedics responded to numerous emergency incidents as a result of the flash flooding that occurred in Gauteng on Wednesday, November 9 said ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring.

According to ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring, the heavy rainfall left scores of motorists and homeowners stranded.

Understanding a flash flood:
A flash flood is the rapid flooding of a low-lying area. It may be caused by heavy rain associated with a severe thunderstorm, hurricane or even a tropical storm. Flash floods are distinguished from regular floods by a timescale of less than six hours. You will not always have a warning that these deadly, sudden floods are coming.
