There are only three weeks to go before Wheels and Wings 2016 and the staff at the Springs Advertiser and African Reporter are busy putting the finishing touches on a spectacular day out for the whole family.

Once again the family fun day will be held at the Springs Airfield with the fun kicking off at 9am.

There will be no charge levied but visitors will be asked to donate items of non-perishable food for distribution to Vita Nova Centre, Springs and KwaThema Child Welfare Society and the KwaThema Stimulation Centre.

SA Reynolds Travel and Prosafe Security have come on board this year to sponsor the entertainment.

Three local bands are included in the line up.

The Colour Blue is a four-piece band out of Springs, Last Chance’s four members will be visiting the city from Fourways and the three members of Skinny Sunrise come to us from Pretoria.

Once again the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department will be demonstrating the skills of their K9 officers, a show which is sure to be as popular as it was in 2014.

The Mounted Unit will be bringing their horses to the fun day, and will chat to the public about the role mounted officers play in Ekurhuleni’s law enforcement.

The Rotary Club of Springs Park will once again run the beer tent while the tea garden will be hosted by the Selcourt Methodist Church.

Over 20 food stalls will offer an array of choices to keep you fed and watered while your visit the flea market stalls, check out the display of new and classic cars and enjoy all the entertainment on offer.

There will be free, secure parking available in the airfield grounds and entrances will be manned at all times.

For only the price of a tin of food per visitor, this is sure to be a great family outing not to be missed.

Please note that the final deadline for payment for booked stalls in tomorrow (August 19) and all stalls selling food and drink must submit their certificate of acceptance to Anna Robertson on annar@caxton.co.za by August 25.

If you do not have the necessary certificate please contact the Health Department in First Avenue, Springs (at the First Avenue Clinic) or call 011 999 8771 to obtain your certificate as it is a requirement in order for you to sell food at Wheels and Wings.
