Springs Old Boys hosts cricket friendly

Last Sunday the U15 Eastern Cricket Club played against St Stithian’s Cricket Club for a friendly game, in preparation for the upcoming tour to Limpopo on July 4 to July 7.

The game was played at Springs Old Boys’ cricket field.

“This is a warm-up to the season, as well as a final test-run for the tournament in Limpopo,” says Nicky Meiring, who is the Eastern club’s coordinator.

The Eastern’s team is made up of a number of players, some of which are from Springs Old Boys Cricket Club, which means that the town will be well-represented in Limpopo next week.

The game started at 9.30am and saw the Eastern team off to a strong start.

“So far, so good,” says Nicky.

The results for the game are as follows:

The Eastern’s club bowled out St Stithians for 88.

The team scored 89 for the loss of two wickets.

Best batsmen were Sihle Dlamini of St Stithians and Kyle Meiring of Springs Old Boys with 49 and 24 runs, respectively.

Taku Kazopa of Springs Old Boys was the best bowler, with four wickets for four runs.

He was in good company with Jayden Snyman of St Stithians, who was also best batsman with three wickets for six runs.

The team leaves for Limpopo on July 3.
