I watched this horror movie at the worst possible time, at night, alone and during a thunderstorm.

Needless to say I was a little paranoid as the movie started and clung to a pillow, but I didn’t need to be.

The Gallows revolves around a high school play, set in 1993, where one of the cast members died a horrible death while acting out a scene where he was to be hanged at the gallows.

He died on stage, hanging by his neck.

Twenty years later, a theater group at the same school resurrects the production to mark the tragedy.

In an attempt to sabotage the play, three students break into the school at night, only to discover that the horrors of the past don’t always stay buried.

This was one of those movies where everything is recorded on a hand-held camera which makes it slightly more creepy, but also confusing at times.

The scary parts only started somewhere in the middle when you least expected it. I have seen scarier horror movies but found the plot as well as the actors pleasing and captivating.
