Public to choose Championship Boerewors

For the first time in the history of the competition, South Africa’s number one boerewors will be selected through a process of public voting.

The Championship Boerewors competition is open for entries until June 12 and with a new competition structure, the competition is more exciting and challenging than ever before!

Entrants will get down to serious business to battle it out in six Champion Rounds taking place on July 11 and 18 in major centres nationwide.

Eighteen contestants (three from each of these events) will be selected to compete in the final round in Cape Town on August 1, where the nation’s top three recipes will be chosen.

The top three recipes will be available in-store for consumers to buy, braai and vote for their favourite recipe from August 28 until September 10.

The votes will be audited and the winner of the 2015 Championship Boerewors competition will be revealed on September 16.

Anyone with an exceptional traditional boerewors recipe and the skills to make their boerewors from scratch can enter to stand a chance to win the grand prize of a brand new Toyota Hilux 2.7 Double Cab Raised Body L45.

The South African Chefs Association (SACA), a recognised authority on food in South Africa, will take charge of the judging processes and will be making sure that all entries adhere to the guidelines for making truly traditional boerewors.

Boerewors enthusiasts are encouraged to join in the excitement and submit their finest boerewors recipe to ensure that the best boerewors in South Africa can be found.

Entry forms are available from all Shoprite, Checkers and Checkers Hyper stores or visit Champion Boerewors for more information or to enter online.

Entrants may scan and email, fax or post their entry; it just needs to reach the organisers before June 12.

There are many great prizes from Coca-Cola, All Gold and Simba – and that great Toyota Hilux – at stake.
