Gear up for laughter at the Pride Comedy Fest

An ensemble of proudly South African comedians will unleash hilarity at Carnival City as part of the Pride Weekend Festival from March 6 to 8.

There are three festivals during the Pride Weekend namely the comedy, music and gospel festival.

The Pride Comedy Fest takes place on the second day of the Pride Weekend which is March 7.

Amongst the funny men and women gracing the stage are Mashabela Galane, Skhumba, Celeste Ntuli, Sfiso Nene, and Isaac Gampu.

The host is Galane who is a well-known South African stand-up comedian and actor who has featured in the likes of Strictly Vernac Comedy show, Opening Guys, Teenagers on the Move, District 9, Invictus, Dimpara short film, Welcome to Jo’burg by Zweli Banzi and comedy clips for a radio station.

Skhumba is a rising star who recently became a presenter on an entertainment show on SABC 1.

He has headlined the popular Blacks Only Comedy, the biggest comedy show in South Africa, a number of times and performed to over 4 000 people at a time.

Ntuli is one of the country’s most sought-after stand-up comediennes who has featured in some of the biggest comedy showcases including the Black Only Comedy.

Her career kicked off in 2009 when she was one of the Top 10 contestants on the second season of the SABC 1 reality competition series So You Think You’re Funny.

Nene is best-known to local comedy fans for winning the first season of the SABC 1 reality competition talent search So You Think You’re Funny in 2009.

The Pride Musical Fest starts the weekend on March 6 at 6pm.

In the line-up are well-known artists such as The Soil, Black Motion, Moneoa, RamZ the DJ, and DJ Levis.

The weekend’s entertainment wraps-up on March 8 with the Pride Gospel show from 3pm.
