This movie plays off during the early 1960s when the former Hollywood film star and icon-princess of Monaco, Grace Kelly (Nicole Kidman) had to play the greatest role of her life.

As mother of two young children and beloved princess of the people of Monaco she had to make the tough decision between going back to the career of being a film star or help save Monaco and the dynasty of Grimaldi.

There was a political dispute between her husband Rainier III and France’s leader, Charles de Gaulle and a looming French invasion of Monaco.

To save her beloved Monaco during this time, she decided to hold a formal ball where she invited all Monaco’s enemies and friends.

One of the comments of the guests arriving at the ball was that the people may have turned their backs on Rainier, but not on Grace.

During this ball she made a speech that seems as if it helped to change the minds of the enemies of Monaco.

Dressed in a beautiful white dress she said she believed in fairy tales, because if you work hard enough these fairy tales can exist.

She also commented in a sweet voice that no-one had the right to crush beauty and the happiness of someone only because they can do it.

The crunch of this speech is when she said she also believed in love and that love puts away guns and it makes everything right in the world again.

This DVD is worth watching if you love historical movies or biographies because you see people like Arrie Onasis and Maria Callas, contemporaries of Rainier and Grace.

For the non-historical fans, it is a beautiful story about how a woman’s influence can change tight situations.

Other actors in the movie are Tim Roth, Frank Langella and Paz Vega.
