Interview with the Vengaboys

The Addie was lucky enough to get an interview with the Vengaboys who are coming to South Africa this December.

They started their career in 1997 and continued performing their hits until 2004, after which they had a short break of two years.

The Vengaboys stressed the fact that they never split up, as some might have thought.

“We came back in 2006, fully charged and ready to continue our quest to rule the world,” says the European super group.

When the Addie journalist asked why they chose South Africa, they said “why not South Africa?”

“It’s time for South Africa to show us if you guys still know how to party!” they added.

Their golden oldies can be expected on their visit in December, as well as other songs they created since their return from their short break.

The Vengaboys visited South Africa before in 2000 and 14 years later they arrive again on tour.

“SA is a beautiful country and when we got the opportunity to come back for a short tour, we did not hesitate to grab it,” they said.

Their greatest hits of all time were their single “Boom Boom Boom Boom” closely followed by “We like to party”.

In 2012 and 2013 they did two tours through Australia and enjoyed being on the other side of the world with such a supportive fan-base.

They’ve been touring through Europe for the past eight years and plan to continue touring throughout the world.

“Unfortunately Roy (den Burger) did not return to the group, but luckily we found a great replacement in Donny Latupeirissa, who has become a great asset to the group and a dear member of our small Venga family.”

During their two years out of the spotlight, the Vengaboys enjoyed life by spending time with their families and loved ones

“We recharged our Party battery and were slowly getting ready to hit the stages again all over the world.”
