A new breath of life has been given to Tom Clancy’s iconic character in the fast-paced action thriller, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.
Although this is the fifth film in the Jack Ryan series, it is the only one which has not been adapted from any particular Clancy novel. Instead, it has an original storyline which focuses around the origin of Jack Ryan.
After recovering from a serious war injury, Jack Ryan (Chris Pine) is recruited by the CIA as an analyst.
Although his job seems safe and simple, it isn’t long before he is drawn into a dangerous terrorist plot involving his fiancée (Kiera Knightly), a rogue government agent (Kevin Costner) and a ruthless Russian criminal (Kenneth Branagh).
Despite all the gunfire and espionage, Ryan is forced to work at a frantic pace in order to save his country from devastation.
The film is directed by Branagh and he keeps the thrills coming at a relentless pace.
As for die-hard film fanatics, you’ll be pleased to know that the DVD contains a selection of special features, including deleted and extended scenes.
