A naughty adventure

DVD: The Smurfs 2 Reviewed by: Gareth Drawbridge Review made possible by: NuMetro

Just like Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Smurfs are back.

And although these little critters are no bigger than the Terminators bulging biceps, the threat facing their peaceful village is.

Having found their way home from the Big Apple, the Smurfs are living under the illusion that they are safe.

However, Gargamel has not given up and once again the evil wizard has devised a cunning and diabolical plan to eradicate the Smurfs.

In order to carry out his plan, Gargamel uses his powers to kidnap Smurfette and take her to Paris.

Unwilling to let any harm come to Smurfette, several Smurfs (Papa Smurf, Clumsy, Grouchy and Vanity) enlist the help of their human friends, Patrick and Grace Winslow, and together they go after the evil wizard.

Another exciting adventure soon unfolds as the Smurfs race across Paris and attempt to thwart Gargamel’s plan and bring Smurfette home.

Although the plot is similar to the first movie, the introduction of several new characters (and Smurfs) prevents the film from becoming just another stale sequel.

Like the first film, the animation is brilliant and, after a double dose of Smurf fun, you can bet children will have nothing to feel blue about.
