A treat for Jason fans

DVD: Redemption Reviewed by: Samantha Keogh Review made possible by: SterKinekor

Redemption, starring Jason Statham is an action-packed film with a fun plot.

Despite the usual violence associated with this actor, redemption has a riveting plot.

The movie tells the story of Joey Jones who returns to London after his unit is ripped to shreds by artillery fire in Afghanistan and takes to life on the streets.

However, when thugs assault the group of homeless people with whom he shares an alley and his friend goes missing, Joey breaks into the Covent Garden apartment of a wealthy man and adopts his identify while he is out of town for a few months.

Using the man’s identity, car and money, Joey uses his connections in the Chinese mob to find the men who murdered his girlfriend, whose body has been pulled out of the river, and exact his revenge.

While plotting to take down the group who assaulted him and his friends, he also forges a close bond with Sister Christina, a nun who runs a soup kitchen for the homeless, who goes to great lengths to convince him to stay on the right side of the law.

His feeling for her and the guilt he feels at having to commit crimes he knows she would not approve of, add to the film’s rich tapestry of concurrent plots.

My only criticism to Jason – lose the hair, it’s not the best look on you.
