A jolly funny romp

DVD: We're the Millers Reviewed by: Samantha Keogh Review made possible by: NuMetro

What do you get when you put a drug dealer (Jason Sudeikis), a stripper (Jennifer Aniston), a virgin (Will Poulter) and a runaway (Emma Roberts) in a Winnebago on a road trip to collect a rather large shipment of drugs?

A jolly good romp!

We’re the Millers sees drug dealer David Clark teaming up with an unlikely crew to create a family in the hopes that he will make it across the Mexican border and back into the USA without having his vehicle searched and the huge stockpile of drugs he is smuggling into the States, which has been hidden in every available nook and cranny, found.

It’s a light-hearted movie that sneaks up on you and makes you laugh out loud before you have time to scoff at the thought of admitting to your friends that you watched it, let alone enjoyed it.

While it is filled with the obvious and predictable moments one would expect from this type of film, there are far more surprising and thoroughly hilarious moments to ensure that the movie is far from banal.

While the movie gallops along, one thigh-slapping laugh after another, it is probably only fair to warn the gents that there is one particularly funny scene in which a spider feasts on the son’s delicate bits, causing them to swell to huge proportions and necessitating a trip to the emergency room.

With never a dull moment this is the perfect fare for a rainy Sunday afternoon, but be aware that the 16LD classification is there for a reason.
