Room for improvement for young SOB team

Whatever the coach said to the home team at half-time worked as it was a vastly improved team that came back to the field.

Springs Old Boys (SOB) should not be disheartened by their performance on Saturday afternoon against Mondeor.
The team started poorly, but there were glimpses of the promise these boys hold.
With a few tweaks here and there, the team should improve going forward.
High on the list of things for the team to work on is their defensive skills.
At times, the boys in green sat back and let the visitors come at them.
This proved costly as the visitors were leading 7-0 at half-time.

Additionally, the SOB goalkeeper’s habit of standing on the goal line led to some very sloppy goals by the visitors.
Whatever the coach said to the home team at half-time worked as it was a vastly improved team that came back to the field.
SOB had a great chance to get their first goal in the opening two minutes.
Their persistence paid off as they broke away wonderfully to score their first goal of the game.
The striker must be commended for his efforts under pressure as he went one on one with the keeper and knew exactly where to put the ball in the net.

An own goal by the home team for the visitors ninth goal did not help matters at all.
However, this is still the start of the season and the boys will improve as they get more experience and become match fit.
The home crowd was enthusiastic in their support and the team should use this to bolster their confidence going forward.
The final score was 12-1 for Mondeor.
