Progress made on Bakerton Stadium

Hopefully, it will be completed by the end of this year.

The sport stadium renovations in Bakerton has made good progress and is nearing completion.
After rampant vandalism and looting over the years, the stadium stood desolate and was no longer usable.
In 2019, however, residents requested the City of Ekurhuleni to step in and address the issue.
A contractor was hired to fix the grandstand, the locker rooms and the field.

A great amount of progress has been made on the grandstand and the locker rooms.
“Hopefully, renovations will be completed by the end of this year,” said ward councillor Ramesh Sheodin.
“Bakerton residents need to take ownership of the stadium and protect it from vandalism.
“The stadium was upgraded many times in the past, but was vandalised soon afterwards. It is a useful facility for the residents.”
