Insimbi Night Run takes off

The event served as a fund-raiser for the Help A Ranger cause that assists in the conservation of the rhino population and the counter acting of poaching activities.

Insimbi Legacy Projects staged their inaugural night run last Friday among the wildlife at the Nature Reserve across from Springs Mall.

“It also emulated the boots on the ground initiative for foot patrols that take place to deter the poaching when the threat situation is quite high, such as during full moon,” said Carmela D’Arrigo, one of the organisers of the event.
“By doing the run at night, the participants get an insight as to what it is like to be amongst the wildlife in the dark, but without the threat of poachers lurking about.

The Springs Central Air Scouts made sure everyone stayed on course. Samuel Van Der Greindt, Calvin McBeath, Bayden Erasmus, Deacon Faber, Heinrich Van Der Merwe, Tarryn Clulee, Makayla Aucamp, Lugene Dow and Ethan Langton ushered the participants to the finish line.

“The beautiful people from the East Rand showed their support for the cause and over 100 participants took part in the 5km or 10km run and judging by the smiles, good fun was had by all.”

Scouts from Springs Central Air made sure everyone stayed on course.
Participants and supporters could opt for a relaxing massage, enjoy boerewors rolls and drinks and also got a chance to stock up on their Insimbi Legacy Projects merchandise.
