Rain not a deterrent for runners in Road Relay 2019

After the first lap in the u-19 male division, the Sir Pierre Van Ryneveld team, from Kempton Park, were in the lead, which they held on to until the end.

The early-morning showers at the start of the Road Relay 2019 did nothing to dampen the spirits of the participants.

This year, the relay started at the Veritas Senior College sports field and each lap was 5km.

Striders Athletics Club chairperson Jackie Seddon says this is the oldest road relay in South Africa.

“It used to be known as the Munroe Munish Relay, and it was from Nigel to Springs,” says Seddon.
