100 Cycle Challenge celebrates second birthday.

The total distance of the race is 130km but there is also a 50km option.

For its second installment, the 100 Cycle Challenge will see cyclists from all over South Africa lapping the Germiston Lake on May 5.

The total distance of the race is 130km but there is also a 50km option.

Anyone over the age of 15 can ride the 100km race and anyone older than 13 can race the 50km race.

The race is a timed race.

In this year’s race, all categories of riders will line-up inside the Race Village, with each group proceeding to the starting line when called to start the race.

Spectators and cyclists are provided with an outstanding view of the cyclists as they complete lap after lap around the lake.

The 100 Cycle Challenge asks that all riders park at Germiston High School, where a gate between the school and the lake ensures direct access to Race Village.

There will be a variety of food and drink vendors providing coffee, craft beer, gin and water.

Additionally, there will be a safe children’s area as well as live entertainment on offer.

The 100 Cycle Challenge is dedicated to the development of the sport of cycling; moreover, this year’s race is dedicated to the developmental initiatives of East Rand based non-profit organisations (NPOs) such as the Ekurhuleni Cycling Club and The Urban Ruins.
