Springs Old Boys Premier Reserve lose by three runs

It was a very tightly contested match, which was played as part of the Easterns Cricket League.

The Springs Old Boys (SOB) Premier Reserve lost by an agonising three runs against old foes United Cricket Club on last Sunday morning.

The home team won the toss and elected to bowl first and managed to bundle the visitors out for 138 runs.

Coach Lionel Joubert said the team had been playing well, but were up against a strong team.

It was a very tightly contested match, which was played as part of the Easterns Cricket League.

The home team put up a fight and were well supported by various players who put in a good performance.

Armandt van der Merwe took four wickets in his four overs for 16 runs.

Dylan van Zyl also took four wickets in his seven overs for 13 runs.

The best batsman was Christiaan Duvenhage with 41 runs and well supported by Jayden Mostert who scored 27 runs and Henco Maritz who chipped in with 18 runs.

There are six matches left in the season and the home team will look to bounce back from their defeat.
