Players play through the festive season at Pollak Park Golf Club

The results for the weekend’s competition were not available at the time of going to print.

The Pollak Park Golf Club was a hive of activity during the festive season as the club had numerous competitions.

In the I.P.S Yellow tee Markers, held on Christmas Eve, Hennie Swart won with 39 points and Gideon

Lubbe was the runner-up with 38 points.

Emil van Rensburg and Jan van Heerden won the Betterball Stableford from RED Tee Markers with 43 points and the pair of Renier Geldenhuys and Erne Smal came second with 41 points.

In the Meat Comp held on December 27, Reinhardt van Biljon reached the 1st 9 with 19 points and Schalk Bloem was the runner-up with 19 points.

Klerk was third with 36 points.

December 30 saw players taking part in the second I.P.S competition.

Grant Cockeran was the winner with 39 points and Ross McAllister was the runner-up with 34 points.

On New Year’s Eve, there was I.P.S Yellow tee Markers competition which Renier Geldenhuys won with 38 points.

The first competition of the year was the Betterball Stableford which took place last Wednesday which Bruce Mckenzie and Hester Nell won with 42 points.

The club has also introduced new rules effective from January 1.

• Ball search time is reduced from five minutes to three minutes.

• If a ball is moved while searching for it, the ball must be replaced on its original position without penalty.

• Free relief for an embedded ball through the course.

• Relief may be taken using the longest club in the bag excluding the putter.

• Drops will be taken from knee height.

• If a ball comes in contact with the player, caddy or equipment there will be no penalty.

• There will be no penalty when a ball is double hit, the second hit will however count as a stroke.

• Touching the sand incidentally in the bunker in permitted.

• Loose impediments can be removed anywhere on the course.

• A player may take a drop out of a bunker with a 2 shot penalty.

• Water hazards are now called penalty areas.

• The club committee may decide to make a local rule to allow golfers to drop in the area where a ball is lost or out of bounds under a two stroke penalty.

• A ball that is moved accidentally on a putting green must be replaced without penalty.

• All damage to greens may be repaired before putting.

• Putting with the flag stick in is now permitted.

• A ball wedged between the flag stick and the side of the hole is now deemed to be holed.
