His coach Rassie Erasmus who is always in his corner encourages him:“I’m very happy about his win. He’s the best there is.”

Chris Jansen (10) won big at the prestigious Jonny Reits Big 5 tournament in Pretoria at the beginning of this month.

There was a record 640 wrestlers who entered the tournament this year from over 50 different clubs.

This was one of the biggest tournaments in the country. The biggest is the SA Champs to be held in October.

Jansen, who wrestles in the u-10 division, faced seven competitors in his quest for a big five animal.

The win was special to Jansen as each wrestler wrestles over five years. Each year a wrestler gets a big five animal on their medal.

This was Jansen’s third year in the tournament and he received a lion on his medal.
