The league gives them an opportunity to sharpen their skills and offers exposure from one level to the next.

Kamogelo Nombewu, who is now playing in the national division of this league for u-19, says though she has only been playing cricket for three years. She has been exposed to a different world which allowed her to meet and network with people from different schools and backgrounds.

Mandisa Zulu, the captain of the Duduza Cricket Club who is also playing in the national level, says both the league and her Saturday cricket practice give her something to look forward to every day and every weekend.

Thus she has no time to focus and engage in bad habits which many young people are exposed to.

Pheelo Padime, the coach of the Dududuza Cricket Club, says that as a club they get minimal support from the society and the parents of the children.

He urges the community and parents to support the girls as many of them have demonstrated great talent.

“Cricket is also for girls and parents must pay attention to their children by giving them support”.

Anna Ngwenya, a teacher from James Nkosi Primary School, says that the girls are always motivated to keep their dedication when they see her attending their games.
