Springs Old Boys u-17 thrash Bedfordview 4-2

Springs Old Boys u-17 team were simply too good for Bedfordview as they trashed the visitors 4-2.

The game was part of the u-17 Eastern Local Football Association (ELFA) Cup.

Scoring the goals for the home team were Loyiso Dube with two goals and Ephraim Buthelezi and Keoratile Kamudi each bagging a goal.

This was a hard-fought victory for the home team coach Bruce Stones says, “We are very happy with our performance, we have been working hard on the mental aspect of the game.

“Keeping our concentration and shape, this was the biggest reason for our victory on Sunday.”

This excellent result at home will surely boost the team’s confidence as they will face Benoni Northerns on Sunday, who Stones describes as a tough opponent.

The team will look to collect all three points and continue their great start to the season.

There was also the second round of Cup competition this weekend which was a knockout competition played separately to the league, so not all teams played as they were knocked out in the first round.

The following teams lost and are now out of the competition:

U-7 lost 0-8 to Corinthians

U-10(2) lost 3-7 to Birchacres

U-12(1) lost 1-5 to FC Jabez

The following teams won and will go through to round three:

U-10(1) beat Alberton 4-2

U-13 beat Alberton 5-0

U-15 beat Benoni Northerns 4-2

U-17 beat Bedfordview 4-2
