Strubenvale karate club members to participate in the Africa Cup Tournament

Eight karateka took part and six qualified for JKA national colours.

The SA JKA Springs club took part in the SA Championships at the Standard Bank Arena in Johannesburg this past weekend.

Eight karatekas took part in the competition and six qualified for the JKA national colours.

The individual results are as follows:

  • Leon de Kock – kata bronze
  • Ruan Herbst – kumite bronze
  • Johndré Williams – kumite bronze
  • Nicole Bruyns – kumite bronze
  • Simonè Bruyns – kumite silver
  • Brenden Preuss – national colours for both kata and kumite

Only black belts may take part in the Africa Cup Tournament which will take place at the Standard Bank Arena on September 1.

Therefore, only Nicole Bruyns and Simoné Bruyns will represent the club at the tournament.

“We are very proud of all our karateka that took part in the JKA SA Championships.

“To take part was already a big achievement, congratulations to everyone that participated,” says Senseis Fanie Meyer and Fanie du Plessis.
