SA JKA Springs Karate Club saw their hard work pay off as they performed well at the SA JKA Gauteng Championships on March 24.
Eight members of the club attended the SA JKA Gauteng Championships and eight of them got their Gauteng colours and won medals at the championships.
Their performance now means they have qualified to go to the SA JKA South African Championships next month.

The club, which was formed 17 years ago by Sensei Fanie Meyer, has grown to more than 50 members.
The SA JKA style, which the club uses, is the oldest style of karate in the country.
Over the past 17 years, the growth of the sport in Springs has been tremendous with participation from both genders and different age groups increasing.
For Sensei Fanie du Plessis, the growth of the sport in Springs is not surprising.
“Karate teaches you self-discipline, improves your self-confidence and it’s good for hyperactive children.
“It’s also easy to measure yourself against others so you can improve and set goals for yourself.
“You also learn how to defend yourself,” says du Plessis.

The club, which is affiliated with the Japan Karate Association is still accepting new members and they have classes three times a week from 5.30pm.
The SA JKA Springs Karate Club is at Dirkie Meyer Park, Ermelo Road in Casseldale.
