Springs fighters take down opponents

Three mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters from House of Tinkerbell in Springs fought at FightStars at the John Barrable Hall in Benoni on Saturday.

Orlando Mashaba who is a bantamweight fighter is busy competing in a tournament which will get him a R50 000 professional fight deal with FightStars should he win the tournament.

He fought the first fight of the tournament against Lecture Gumbi on Saturday, which he won.

Jimmy James who does the pro fight management for Pro League and is the manager of House of Tinkerbell, says they are extremely proud of Orlando.

“He is the next fighter who will go professional and who Pro League will be putting into professional fights such as Extreme Fighting Championships (EFC) and other professional fighting organisations,” says Jimmy.

The other fighter was Gift Walker who just turned a senior fighter.

Gift fought his first senior fight against Qhayiya Pefile on Saturday and also won.

“We are very proud of him and we are looking at a good future for him,” says Jimmy.

Jimmy also fought in the FightStars on Saturday and won his fight against Jaco Els.

He adds that it was probably one of his last fights.

House of Tinkerbell assisted with their sister club’s two fighters from PE, the PE Submission Fighting Academy (Pesfa) who also competed in the event.

Pesfa is owned by Chris Bright, who is JP Kruger’s coach.

JP Kruger is the head coach of House of Tinkerbell.
