The Ekurhuleni School Age Boys and Girls team will be competing in the Gauteng Championships on Saturday and Sunday in the Sebokeng township in Sedibeng.
They will be competing against five other districts from Gauteng.
Head coach Jeanette Dyzel says they hope to get most of the boxers through to the South African Championships, which will be held from December 9 to 16.
“We are still trying to host the SA’s in Ekurhuleni.
“We are looking at Duduza as a venue, but we still need to find sponsors for the event,” she says.
Dyzel says they have to provide accommodation for the officials who will be attending the event.
“There are a lot of other factors when arranging a competition that we need funds for.”
