Senior cricket trials held at SOB cricket

Springs Old Boys Cricket Club held junior and cricket trials over the past weekend.

Numerous senior cricket players turned up to register for the trials held at the Springs Old Boys (SOB) Cricket Club on Sunday.

Club chairman Lionel Joubert says it is a good pre-season entry for the club and they aim to make two teams for Saturday Jet and fourth sides.

“We are aiming to have premier, promotion, directors leagues as well as a colt side, which are the teams that play 50 overs on Sundays,” says Joubert.

“We are sitting with 13 teams at the club.”

Joubert highlights that Thako Maziba is one of the upcoming fast bowlers for the season.

The first premier warm up will be next week with Duduza on Sunday.

Joubert says the official season will start in early November and they will play until March next year.

On Saturday the SOB cricket also hosted junior trials which are expected to continue again next weekend.

“The u-12s are sitting with 25 players who came for trials and the u-10s have 30 players.”

The club is aiming for seven teams for the juniors.
