SOB football u-11 hold Golden Knights to a draw.

With physical defence and a quick counter attack, SOB u-11 and Golden Knights tied 3-3 on Sunday.

The Springs Old Boys (SOB) Football Club’s u-11 team played against Golden Knights from Midrand on Sunday afternoon in a defensive battle, with the teams playing to a 3-3 tie after two overtime periods.

The match gave a challenging exchange of skill and talent between the two teams.

Two goals were scored in the first half with Golden Knights striking first, but SOB got the equaliser just before halftime.

The SOB controlled the ball for much of the game, out-shooting the Golden Knights and missing on several scoring opportunities.

“We got an excellent game from the boys, although it was very challenging we pulled through the whole match,” says SOB u-11 coach George Deligiannis.

“It’s been a great season and we also appreciate the assistance from the parents because without them none of this would be possible.”

This league game surely saw both teams playing their hearts out.

Three SOB soccer teams also won against their opponents during the weekend.

The u-8s beat Benoni Northerns 2-1, u-9As beat Robertsham 6-0 and u-10s beat Old Bens 4-2.

The other teams played tough games which resulted in two losses, the u-13s lost to Old Bens 1-4 and the u-16s lost to Corinthians 4-5.
