Springs u-15’s rivals bite the dust

The Springs u-15 rugby team played against Vereeniging at the Springs Rugby Club on Saturday.

After a hard-played game, Springs won 54-15.

By half-time, Springs had already racked up a score of 35 points against Vereeniging’s five points.

Coach Bennie Coleman says due to injuries throughout the game, the boys played with a few players less on the field and still managed to play an intensely victorious game.

The top scorer for the u-15 team was Jean-Pierre van Vuuren as left wing, with four tries under his belt and scoring 20 points for his team.

Scoring a total of 10 tries with two successful conversions, the team played with spirit and the teamwork and sportsmanship regularly saw the players under the posts, behind the try line.

Eugene Tolkin, as left flanker, scored two tries for Springs.

Xander Vorster, as left centre, and Albert Lourens, loose head prop, both scored a try with a conversion while Xander Kruger, as full back, and Jaundre van Biljon, as right centre, each scored another five points for the team via a try.

Both teams played with fewer players and had a hard match, but Springs’ defence remained strong throughout the game, rarely giving their opponents a chance to break through.

The match ended on a high note with the crowd going wild.
