As part of their annual fundraising activities, the NG-Kerk Presidentsoord hosted its annual golf day fund-raising event at Pollak Park Golf Club last Friday.
The golf day is one of the church’s major fundraising events that will enable them to raise the necessary funds to undertake various activities.
“We have various fundraising events throughout the year for our church but this particular one is more of assisting the less fortunate,” says Willie Van Zyl, elder church leader.
He notes that funds generated through the fundraising will go towards the church’s selected charity organisation.
The golf day fundraising was not only limited to the congregation and Springs community but also for individuals and business people from various places.
“This event also enables us to get to know each other as individuals and for business people to promote their business too,” says Van Zyl.
Although Rev Johan Barnard has been at the church for almost a month, he emphasises the importance of giving back and engaging with the community.
“Events like these excite me because it gives us, the church, an opportunity to share,” says Barnard.
