Martial arts students bag 42 medals

The students of the United Martial Arts International SA Springs (UMAI SA) recently participated at the Kickboxing by the Galaxy Challenge in Kempton Park.

Sensei Jaun Naude says their students fought incredibly well.

“I am extremely proud of their hard work and their endurance. They boast a proud total of 42 medals,” he says.

Of these 42 medals, the students won 29 gold, nine silver and four bronze medals.

Earlier in May, the students also fought at the Arnold Classics at the Sandton Convention Centre.

Jaun says this was like a “mini Olympics” with all the different sport categories in which participants fought.

At this tournament, the students won 12 gold medals, four silver and five bronze medals.

The students of UMAI SA represented Eastern Gauteng at the South African Kickboxing Association (Saka) National Kickboxing Championships in Durban.

“Our students did very well and didn’t disappoint,” says Jaun.

He explains that before the students could participate in the SA Championships, they first had to be selected for the Eastern Gauteng team.

“We received eight gold medals, five silver medals and nine bronze medals.

“This also means that we have eight students who were chosen for the SA Championships.”

The UMAI SA Springs have been active in Springs for almost a year and have a dojo at the Springs Old Boys Club.
