Highlanders win round two of Super 16

The second round of the Springs Country Club's Super 16 tournament took place last Saturday.

Ninety golfers made up about 15 teams who played in the second round of the Super 16.

Each team consists of six players, three groups of two players.

Super 16 games are played over seven months, the top teams in the two groups then play in the semi-final and the two group winners then compete in the finals.

The Highlanders came out on top as the winning team of round two on Saturday with a total of 127 points.

Reichardt Reichel was the winning individual with 40 points.

In first place were Gerhard Gibson and Werner du Toit with 45 points on count out.

Deon and Tersia Beck scored 45 points on count out which landed them in second place.

In third place were Johan van Deventer and Wouter Beukes with 44 points on count out.

Stefan Prinsloo and Tobie Truter placed fourth with 44 points on count out.

Also with 44 points were Hendrik and Riaan Geyser in fifth place.

Nearest the pin on hole eight was Johan du Plessis and Lemé Stander was nearest the pin on hole 12.

The club competition also took place on Saturday.

The winners were Gernie Sadler and Piet de Wet with 45 points.

In second place were Wouter Beukes and Johan van Deventer with 44 points.
