This is the first season that Easterns, Northerns and Southerns have been combined into a single league and it proved a challenging task for the Springs teams taking on teams from these areas for the first time.
On Saturday the club started with the u-7 team playing against Boksburg away at Prince George (PG) Park.
They started their season with a bang as they returned victorious with a score of 8 – 3.
They were followed by the u-8 team playing BCC away in Bedfordview.
After a hard fought game they returned with a close loss of 3 – 5.
Both u-9 teams played away as well and had a mixed bag of results.
The u-9A side returned with a 1 – 0 win against Rovers in Ekurhuleni West and the u-9B side returned from Wanderers in another closely contested game with a 2 – 3 defeat.
They were the first team from the club to take on a side from the Northerns league.
The u-10 team were the only side on Saturday to play a game at home.
They took on Bonaero in an extremely tight match which ended 3 – 4 in the away team’s favour.
The u-11 team travelled to Corinthians for their match and came home managing to secure a 5 – 1 win.
On Sunday the u-13s started the day with a home match against Benoni Northerns and they did not disappoint, managing an impressive 5 – 0 victory.
Sunday afternoon saw the u-16s take on Highlands Park.
They were the only other team to face a Northerns team for the first time and came home with a 1 – 5 loss.
