Fitness bootcamp open to the community

Having seen a need for fitness, a Selcourt resident started a fitness bootcamp in Selcourt Enclosure.

Tanya Homem de Gouveia (24) spends three days a week training, helping and inspiring members of the community during her bootcamp sessions.

Early on Saturday morning, Tanya and her peers worked up a sweat with body weight exercises and zumba dances.

“This is a free bootcamp for any community members who want to join,” says Tanya.

“I started out with selling weight-loss products but felt I needed to help people with fun exercises after my friend did something similar in another town.

“I like to help people and going to the gym doesn’t feel the same.”

Tanya explains that she does it for the well-being of the community and it is not compulsory to buy any of her products to join the group.

“All they have to do is bring a bottle of water and either a yoga mat or a towel.”

All ages, shapes and sizes are more than welcome to attend the bootcamp sessions.

The bootcamp takes place in the field on the corner of Itogen and Hampton roads in Selcourt Enclosure on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6pm to 7pm and Saturday mornings from 7am to 8am.

Zumba dancing exercises are exhausting but it didn’t put this group down as their determination was clear to complete every exercise on Saturday morning during the bootcamp session at Selcourt Enclosure.
