Tommy well prepared for FNB Dusi

Tommy Booth finished the Florida Lake Canoe Club (FLCC) Tops Spar Dusi seeding race held at the Gauteng Gauteng Klip River in two hours 31 minutes on Sunday.

The 33km race from Daleside to Meyerton was the final river race of the season.

Jennie Dallas from Gauteng Canoe Union says Tommy was one of the tough endurance participants who took on the challenging race to improve fitness, endurance, stamina and seeding start position for the upcoming FNB Dusi Canoe Marathon race from February 16 to 18.

The Dusi is the world’s toughest endurance canoe event.

Tommy is a member of the East Rand Kayak Club in Benoni.

She says the river race was tough, in accordance with requirements for qualifying for the FNB Dusi.

The challenge included a couple of 2km runs carrying the boat, to add to to the requisite criteria of the worlds most infamous endurance canoe race.
