Third League wear arm bands for Butch

The Springs Old Boys Third League played against Boksburg on Saturday at the Springs Old Boys A field.

Boksburg batted first and scored 177 runs, all out.

Springs Old Boys scored 80 runs, all out, losing by 97 runs.

The team wore black arm bands in memory of Butch Edwards, who recently died after suffering a heart attack on the pitch while playing a match against Benoni Northerns.

The team says Butch was a big role model for them as he had many years experience on the cricket field.

The top performer of the day was Jaques Wessels with seven overs and six wickets for 44 runs.

The Bakerton cricket players also had an active cricket weekend.

The Bakerton Promotion League played on Sunday against Wattville and lost by four wickets.

Bakerton managed to score 155 runs for 10 in 32.3 overs while Wattville scored 156 runs for six in 33.3 overs.

The Bakerton Director League played on Sunday against the Springs Old Boys cricket team and lost by 49 runs.

The Springs Old Boys team scored 182 runs for 10 in 36.5 overs while the Bakerton team scored 133 runs for four in 29 overs.
