World Wrestling Professionals (WWP) All-Africa heavyweight champion Chuma 'Kilimanjaro' Okoye defeated John 'The Executioner' Render, in a WWP Super Slam Clash, at the Springs Indoor Centre, on Saturday.

Heavyweight wrestlers should weigh more than 100kg to qualify for this title.

The evening’s ultimate entertainment started with a triple threat match between Zama ‘Kwaito Kid’ Njokweni, Nathan ‘Ultimate Nathan’ Govendor and George ‘The Renegade’ Niemandt.

Organiser of the event, Juandre ‘JDX’ Ward, says a triple threat match is regular match, but with three competitors in the ring instead of two.

The first person to score a pinfall or submission wins the match.

Kwaito Kid won the match with a pin fall and is the number one contender to fight at the WWP All-Africa Championships on December 10.

East Rand wrestler Ward took on the current WWP Hardcore Wrestling champion, Daryl ‘Nightmare’ Naidu, in a brutal match, which left Durban’s own Nightmare as the winner.

Two of South-Africa’s wrestling icons, Kobus ‘Ananzi’ Erasmus and Naps ‘Boerseun’ de Beer went head-to-head in a classic match, which ended in a double count out (both wrestlers were outside the ring) after 25 minutes, with no winner.

“A brawl broke out and their sportsmanship went out the door,” says Juandre.

The two challenged each other to a rematch in a steel cage match, on December 10, at the Springs Indoor Centre.
