Young players make Springs proud

The Springs u-13 rugby players did their town proud with their match against Suikerbosrand, at the Springs Rugby Club, on Saturday.

With an impeccable start to the match, Dealan Prinsloo managed to score a try within the first five minutes with the help of his teammates.

Kgnunta ‘Gaansie’ Kokhler attempted to complete the conversion, but slightly missed the posts.

Suikerbosrand put up a good defence and moved to add a few points to their board, but Springs pushed through and fought back hard.

The boys played in good team spirit and managed to bag another two tries, one by Henno van Deventer and the other by Tian Cornelius.

The roaring of the crowd of mostly proud parents was enough to push the boys through the final few minutes of the match.

Springs won against Suikerbosrand 15 – 10 to loud applause from spectators.

Juan Breitenbach, head coach of the team, says they have not lost one match this season.

“Neither team one nor team two has lost a match thus far and we are incredibly proud of them,” he says.

Coach Juan explains that he and the other two coaches, Eben Bruitenbach and Heinrich Lessman, have decided to make two Springs u-13 teams as they did not want to lose any of the boys due to matches not being organised for them.

“We believe in developing these boys to the fullest and giving them every opportunity possible as well as the life lessons rugby brings with it,” says coach Juan.

Springs’ second team played against Elsburg and won 46 – 0, a proud day for Springs.

Thirteen boys were chosen to play in the Valke Interprovincial Tournament (IPT).

They are:

• Anrico Kruger

• Maro Smit

• Jacques Bekker

• Hanro Lessman

• Willem de Klerk

• Xander Marais

• Dealan Prinsloo

• Ruan de Jong

• Tian Cornelius

• Juandré Breitenbach
